The Blame Game

Tim over at Bloggerheads has been keeping a close eye on the Bush administration in the aftermath of Katrina. There is one kind of damage limitation this Whitehouse does extremely well.

Of particular note is the lie that Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco delayed declaring a state of emergency. In fact, the governor declared a state of emergency and wrote to the President asking for a federal state of emergeny to be declared before the hurricane hit Louisiana.
I request that you declare an emergency for the State of Louisiana due to Hurricane Katrina for the time period beginning August 26, 2005, and continuing. The affected areas are all the southeastern parishes including the New Orleans Metropolitan area and the mid state Interstate I-49 corridor and northern parishes along the I-20 corridor that are accepting the thousands of citizens evacuating from the areas expecting to be flooded as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
August 27th, 2005
The facts rarely seem to impinge on Whitehouse strategy though.
