The Commons has become little more than an electoral college for the prime minister.
- Simon Jenkins
One sentence which perfectly encapsulates Blair's Britain.

If you don't understand why this is a very bad thing, you probably don't understand the potential pitfalls of parliamentary democracy. In short, the system can give one individual an enormous degree of unchecked power. And if you don't understand why that is a very bad thing, you're probably not a democrat in any real sense of the term. Almost all of the current crop of Labour MPs would appear to share that troubling characteristic.
